This extremely high tensile strength (3500kg) tow rope is comprised of a type of fabric known as UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene). RJWC has taken their new high tech towing rope and put it through its paces. At just 1/2 inch in diameter, with no additional protection, this material can still hold over 3.5 tons.

Ropes made with UHMWPE fibers have a long lifetime in general if you handle and store the synthetic ropes correctly. It is worth to mention that UHMWPE ropes are losing strength when connected by a knot when being bent over a small item or spliced.
UHMWPE ropes are not affected by oil or water and are just as strong whether used in dry, cold or wet conditions.
